Hartley - Sonatina

Sonatina opens with a fanfare using a major 7th that is used as a motive throughout the first movement and is referenced again in the third movement. Throughout all three movements, fanfare figures are contrasted by slurred, flowing lines.

Haydn - Concerto in Eb Major

This concerto from the classical era is a staple of the trumpet repertoire. Because it was written for the keyed trumpet, which was the first trumpet that could play chromatically, it juxtaposes typical fanfare figures with flowing scales and chromatic lines. The outer movements are faster and more technical, while the middle movement is slow and lyrical. Parts available for trumpet in Bb or Eb.
Range (Bb trumpet): C below the staff to Eb above the staff
