135 Trumpet Solos

This project was created as part of the doctoral Solo Brass Literature course directed by Dr. Chris Carrillo at James Madison University. All descriptions of pieces are my own analysis and commentary. I am not affiliated with Texas UIL, J.W. Pepper, or qPress. 

 

 This database is intended for use by high school and college students, college professors, private studio teachers, and professional performers to explore new repertoire. Many of these solos were taken from the Texas UIL Grade 1 Prescribed Music List, which is also used for solo and ensemble contests in many other states.

 

In order to be accessible to a wide variety of trumpet players, a short description of the piece, sample of the score, and professional recording is imbedded into the database when possible. When a piece is available for trumpets in multiple keys, the score and range are shown in Bb trumpet pitch unless otherwise specified.

 

Pieces by living composers are marked by an asterisk (*), and pieces by female composers are marked by a pound sign (#).
