Hindemith - Sonate

Sonate has three movements that are heavily chromatic yet tonal. This piece allows the performer to explore extreme dynamic contrast. It is also a test of endurance due to the extremely slow, drawn out occurrence of Bach's chorale "All men must die" at the end of the piece.

Höhne - Slavische Fantasie

Slavische Fantasie contains many changes in tempo that allow the performer to bring out different characters. It requires fast finger technique and excellent flexibility to execute the fast scale patterns and sixteenth note passages. It also contains long sections without rests that can challenge the performer's endurance.

Holmes - Sonata

Sonata contains a combination of large intervals up to an octave and arpeggiated figures. It also has some sections in 5/8 without much rhythmic complexity. Only available for trumpet in C.
