
Peeters - Sonata Op. 51

Sonata Op. 51 contains three movements, each with some tonal ambiguity. The first movement uses ascending octave jumps as a main motive. The second movement is very slow and tests the performer's breath control and phrasing. The final movement is very fast and requires light repeated tonguing and fast fingers.

Pennequin - Morceau de Concert

Morceau de Concert tests the performer's technical and musical abilities while staying within less than two octaves. Challenges in this piece include intervals up to an octave, scalar runs, fast lip slurs, and alignment when the piano and trumpet parts are offset from each other. This solo also lends ample opportunities for use of rubato.

Persichetti - The Hollow Men

The Hollow Men was originally composed for trumpet and string orchestra and was later published with piano accompaniment. It is lyrical throughout and requires both a beautiful tone and excellent endurance. The long phrases frequently venture into the upper register and use intervals up to an octave.

Porrino - Concertino

Concertino is in a theme & variations form with piano interludes between each variation. It includes techniques such as fast intervals up to an octave, arpeggios, double and triple tonguing, and slurred chromatic runs. It also contains a long cadenza before the coda.
