Reed - Ode for Trumpet

Untitled design-82_edited.jpg

Ode for Trumpet is a short solo with syncopations and some rhythmic complexity. The performer must differentiate between even eighth notes, eighth note triplets, sixteenth notes, and dotted eighth-sixteenth rhythms. It also show some jazz influences and resembles a jazz ballad with bluesy lines and half-valve glissandi.

Riisager - Concertino

Untitled design-83_edited.jpg

Concertino is in a neoclassical style, with the trumpet mostly playing light scales and arpeggios while the piano plays dissonant harmonies. The first movement is comprised mainly of octave jumps and scale patterns. The middle movement is lyrical and dissonant and uses a mute. The final movement is quick and requires light, repeated articulation. Parts available for trumpet in Bb or C. The piano reduction is extremely challenging.

Ropartz - Andante et Allegro

Andante et Allegro opens with a slow melody comprised of intervals mostly smaller than a fifth. It then has a faster fanfare-like section that is excellent for working on arpeggios. This solo uses many dotted rhythms that must be differentiated from the triplets. Parts available for trumpet in Bb or C.

Rougnon - Concert Solo No. 1

PREVIEW ONLY-6_edited.jpg

Concert Solo No. 1 is an excellent solo for developing rhythmic accuracy due to the many syncopations and challenging subdivisions of 6/8 meter. It also contains many stepwise and arpeggiated sixteenth note runs, some intervals up to an octave, and a few moments of tonal ambiguity.
