Weiner - Suite

Suite is an excellent solo for demonstrating one's ability to play dynamic contrasts, as the composer indicated many dynamic changes. Most intervals in this solo are smaller than a fifth. It is rhythmically simple, comprised mainly of eighth and sixteenth notes in 4/4 and 3/4. The second movement has a few syncopations, and the final movement has a brief section of mixed meter. No multiple tonguing is required.

Williams - Prelude and Scherzo

Prelude and Scherzo has two sections. The Prelude contains a fanfare figure and lyrical stepwise lines. The Scherzo is in a quick 6/8 requiring fast fingers and light double tonguing. It combines scales, arpeggios, and chromatic licks. There is a cadenza in the middle of the movement before the main melody returns and leads to a coda.
